I graduated from North Ridgeville High School (NRHS) in May of 2007, and I also received a vocational certificate from the Lorain County Joint Vocational School (LCJVS) in the Networking Communications Field. In Networking Communications Technology (NCT) we studied the CISCO Networking Academy's CCNA Curriculum, and I am currently attending Lorain County Community College for Computers Maintenance and Networking.
During my Sophomore year in high school I was presented with an opportunity of a lifetime. Recruiters from the Lorain College Tech Prep Program along with Recruiters from LCJVS came to explain the College Tech Prep program. College Tech Prep (CTP) is a 2-year educational program that students can select for their junior and senior years of high school where time spent in CTP labs is the time students would normally spend taking high school "electives " (i.e., classes they're free to choose based on their personal interests). CTP labs do NOT take time away from academic subjects.
Basically myself and about 5 other kids were accepted to the program from my school. During our junior year we would go to JVS in the morning (Until 10:20) then finish the day at our "home school" NRHS, and during our senior year we would start our day at NRHS and go to the JVS during the second half of the day.
CTP offers 4 programs at LCJVS. (Interactive Multimedia Technology, Health Science Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and Networking Communications Technology) Of the 4 programs offered two struck my interest; Interactive Multimedia Technology (IMT) and Networking Communications Technology (NCT). After going on tour of the school and programs I decided that the Networking program was the one for me. IMT was more of an "artsy" class and NCT was a real thinking program. Its been proven on multiple occasions that I have no sense of creativity for the arts. I like to think that the I have my own form of art which lies in the designs of multi-hundred node computer networks.
During my time in this program I was able to compete in local, regional, state, and possible national competitions, with the Business Professionals of America (BPA)
